Selenium Nanoparticle Fabrication Researchers Measure with the CPS Disc Centrifuge
The journal Physics of Wave Phenomena published a study in April that used the CPS Disc Centrifuge to measure selenium nanoparticles. The study, “Laser Fabrication and Fragmentation of Selenium Nanoparticles in Aqueous Media” investigated using laser ablation to form selenium nanoparticles.

Cell Therapy Research Uses Disc Centrifuge for Particle Characterization
The study, “Role of nanoparticle size and sialic acids in the distinct time-evolution profiles of nanoparticle uptake in hematopoietic progenitor cells and monocytes,” was published in the Journal of Nanobiotechnology this month. The research seeks to discover the relationship between size of polystyrene nanoparticles and their interaction with human hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC).

Gold Nanoparticle Synthesis Paper Using Disc Centrifuge Published
The journal Reaction Chemistry & Engineering published a paper Mar. 25, 2019 detailing a new process for synthesizing gold nanoparticles. The process, reduces the time required to produce gold nanoparticles to under 4 minutes, and can produce particles with or without capping using carbon monoxide as gaseous reductant.

Patent Published for Preparing Polymeric Microspheres Using CPS Disc Centrifuge
Scientists at Rohm and Haas were recently granted a patent for their work creating polymeric microspheres for use in coatings. The patent, Process for Preparing and Aqueous Dispersion of Polymeric Microspheres, was filed in Aug. 2018 and published Mar. 7, 2019.

Langmuir published a study Mar. 3, 2019 online that used the CPS Disc Centrifuge as the standard in differential centrifugal sedimentation. The study, “Sticky Measurement Problem: Number Concentration of Agglomerated Nanoparticles,” sought to expand researchers’ understanding of measurement techniques available to nanoparticles.

Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials, a subsidiary of Dow Chemical Company, was granted a patent Feb. 28, 2019 for Aqueous Silica Slurry Compositions for Use in Shallow Trench Isolation and Methods of Using Them. In the course of their work, the inventors sought to verify the size of the particles being used in the chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) slurry with the CPS Disk Centrifuge.
